A nice animation that shows what a lot of books on employee motivation will tell you. How much you get paid is a prerequisite for being motivated. But once your remuneration is fair and adequate, the motivation is primarily intrinsic and will not be stimulated just by more bonuses, prizes, etc.
For people to be motivated, they need to have autonomy in their work. People strive for freedom to choose what needs to be done and how to do it, they need to have a sense of ownership of the work. The work itself needs to be challenging and further build your skills, knowledge and competence. People also need to feel that their work has meaning and purpose (which is why company vision and mission statements are so important). Enjoy the video!
